A couple who had refused a $1 million sweepstakes prize because they thought it was a scam have gone public to accept the money.
Glen and Gloria Sims were announced Monday as the winners of H&R Block's Million Dollar Giveaway. The Sewell, N.J., couple had thought the phone calls telling them they had won were part of a scam and they refused the prize.
It was only after the Kansas City, Mo.-based tax preparer went to the media, including NBC's "Today" program that the couple was convinced.
They were picked at random from 17 million entrants. They'll receive $50,000 each year for 20 years before taxes.
