Eunice Kennedy Shriver, sister of the late President John F. Kennedy, was released from Cape Cod Hospital Monday, four days after she broke her leg in a car accident, a hospital official said.

"Ms. Shriver was released, she is resting comfortably at home," said Deborah Dougherty, a spokeswoman for the hospital. Dougherty said Shriver was wearing a cast, but had no information on how long she would have to wear it.

Shriver, who turned 80 Tuesday, broke her left shinbone last Thursday when her sport utility vehicle collided with a pickup truck that pulled out in front of her.

The truck driver was ticketed for making an illegal left turn. Police cited Shriver for driving with an expired registration and for not wearing a seat belt.
