David Edward White, our beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend went to rest in the arms of the Lord on July 7, 2001 following a courageous battle with a long illness surrounded by his loving family.
Born Nov. 28, 1936 in Provencal, LA. to Blanchard Leon and Jessie Ellen Howell White. He was raised in Tatum, Texas. Served three years in the Army. Married Gladys Whitaker Smith on Sept. 16, 1963 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. Occupations included teacher, case social worker, and electronics technician. He was interested in astronomy and built his own telescope. He was skilled in mechanics and often repaired friends and neighbors cars as well as his own. He served faithfully in positions in the church including Branch President, councilor in Branch Presidency, seven years as a temple veil worker, Sunday School president, audiovisual specialist for 12 years, Sunday School teacher and Home Teacher. He followed Christ's example by living a life of service helping others wherever he went. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife; daughters, Teppi (Lance) Sessions, Teresa (Hunter) Haight; son, Paul (Teresa) White; eight grandchildren, Nephi, Starsha, Lehi, Alexis, Natasha, Holly, James and Melissa; brothers and sisters, Shirley Prince, Joan
Nicholson, Diane Welch, Jerry (Laura Rae) White, Joseph (Phyllis) White, Kenneth (Wanda) White, brother-in-law, Charles Cooper, Darlene
(William) Lanius. Preceded in death by his parents and sister Judy Cooper.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 12, 2001 12 noon at the Mountain Shadows Stake Center, 8199 So. 3200 West, West Jordan. Friends may call Wed. from 6-8 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State St. and Thursday one hour prior to services at the church.
