SEATTLE — The Seattle Sounders wrapped up a U.S. Open Cup berth with a 3-0 win over the Utah Blitzz Friday.
Both Seattle and Utah were tied with 15 points in their group, one ahead of Portland. Utah wraps up group play Saturday at Portland.
The loss, Utah's first of the year, is meaningless in qualification terms, because Utah was awarded one of five Division 3 wildcard slots on Thursday.
Pairings for the 32-team single-elimination tournament will be announced on June 13, and the Blitzz are optimistic about the prospects of hosting an MLS team.
