Sally (Hortense) Beck Nelson passed away on Monday July 9, 2001 at her daughter's home in Riverton, Utah.

She was born December 10, 1912 in Paris Idaho to Franklin Samuel Beck and Elizabeth Susan Bunn. She married Roscoe Charles Nelson on April 30, 1931 in Pocatello, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemn-ized in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in death in 1969.

She attended schools in Paris, Idaho, where she graduated from Fielding High School. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and enjoyed reading and handicrafts. She was an active member of the LDS Church and worked at the Provo Temple for many years.

Sally is survived by one son and seven daughters: Beverly (Wilford) Harris, Springville, Ut; Lourene (John) Hoorn, West Valley City; Doris (Leo) Carter, Lindon, Utah; Diane (Gary) Russell, Orem, Utah; Ruth (Gary) Rothlisberger, Stillwell, Kansas; Kathy (Tim) Bishop, St. Louis, Missouri; Rick (Kippy) Nelson, Mt. Green, Utah; Janet (Randy) Gibson, Riverton; 42 grandchildren, 121 great-grand children, and six great-great-grand-children. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 13, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the Slate Canyon Ward, 715 Utah Avenue, Provo. Friends may call on Thursday, July 12, 2001 from 6-8 p.m. at Walker Family Mortuary of Provo and Friday, July 13, 2001, 9:45 to 10:45 am at the Church. Burial will be in the Provo City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Walker Family Mortuary of Provo.
