CHICAGO — Paul Vallas, former chief executive of Chicago's public school system, plans to seek the Democratic nomination for governor, U.S. Rep. William Lipinski said.

"Paul's running, no question about it," Lipinski, D-Ill., said Wednesday after meeting with Vallas in Washington.

Vallas has not publicly ruled out running for higher office but has refused to reveal his plans.

"I'm not going to say anything until I make a decision," Vallas told the Chicago Sun-Times. "When I have something to say, I'll say it."
