Ronald Gene Crane, 60 of Rupert, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001 from injuries sustained in a auto accident. Ron was born, April 21, 1941 in Murray, Utah to Samuel Nephi and Mary LaVerda Grey Crane.

He grew up on the family farm in Draper, Utah, this is where he began his farming. He married Lova Loreen Witt on October 14, 1960 in Salt Lake City, Utah and later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They had five children. He moved to Rupert in 1974 with his family where he has operated his family farm since that time. Ron and Loreen were later divorced and he married Shari Lynne Christensen, May 15, 1992 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. He very much enjoyed horse back riding in the mountains as well as hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Ron was a active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held numerous callings such as High Priest group leader, and a member of the Bishopric as well as others. He was also a member of the Cassia County Possee, Board of Directors of Minidoka County Beet Growers for fifteen years, Board of directors of Snake River Sugar Co. and the Executive Committee.

Ron is survived by his wife Shari of Rupert. Three sons; Clinton R. (Leslie) Crane, Samuel K. (Dawn) Crane and Jason H. (Shelley) Crane all of Rupert. Two daughters; Julie Ann (Brent) Weedop, Oakley, Idaho and Cherelynn (DJ) Rasmussen of Ravenna, Ohio. Stepchildren; Jenny (Michael) Taylor, Patricia (Roman) Jones and Derek Kunz all of Salt Lake City, Utah and Jessica Kunz of Rupert. He also had 19 grandchildren. One brother, J. Clyde Crane, Draper, Utah and three sisters Lorna Rogers, Salt Lake City, Utah, Willa Nelson, Betty Kidner and Carolee Jenkins all of Draper, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harold and Merle Crane.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2001 at the Acequia LDS Chapel with Bishop Michael Mickelsen, officiating. Burial will follow in the Rupert Cemetery. Family and friends may call at Hansen Mortuary Rupert Chapel on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service of Sat. at the Church.
