Roy Joseph Ortega, 59, loved and respected father, grandfather, son, and brother, passed away July 12, 2001. He was born Sept. 11, 1941 in LaMadera, New Mexico to Albino A. and Guadlupe Trujillo Ortega.

He married Janyce Brown in Elko, Nevada on May 5, 1972; they later divorced. Roy was a mechanic on the Bullgang at Kennecott Copper for over 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and working on "big toys". He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church.

Survivors: children, Mindy Alyse, Sandy; Benjamin Joseph, Midvale; Anthony Joseph, Ogden; six grandchildren; mother, Lupe Ortega; brothers and sisters, Priscilla O. Valdez (Roger), Balbino A. Ortega (Helga), Lawrence M. Ortega (Ida), Roselia Sorensen (Mike), Elva Ortega, Richard Ortega (Kelly), Patricia O. Anderson, Carlos A. Ortega, Philip J. Ortega, Loretta O. Gonzales (Frank).

Funeral Mass Monday, July 16, 2001 at 10 a.m. in St. Therese Catholic Church 624 West Lennox St., Midvale. Holy Rosary will be recited Sunday at 8 p.m. at St. Therese Church. Friends may call at the church on Sunday from 7-8 p.m. and on Monday from 9-9:45 a.m.

Interment, Midvale City Cemetery.
