Dancer earns international award

SHARE Dancer earns international award

OBAN, Scotland — Jonathan Barton of the Oban Branch, Paisley Scotland Stake, took a bronze medal at the 2001 Adeline Gene international dance competition organized by Great Britain's Royal Academy of Dance.

A 19-year-old elder, Jonathan is a product of the Ballet West school in Taynuilt, Scotland, which is operated by his mother, Gillian. No gold medal was awarded in the boys competition and the silver was awarded to a Japanese dancer. Jonathan was one of two bronze-medal winners. After a week of competition, he emerged as one of 13 finalists who performed for a public audience at Her Majesty's Theatre in London's West End.
