Game 18: Saturday at the Delta Center

Sacramento 28 29 — 57

Utah 36 33 — 69

First half: Utah's bench play was strong with contributions from LaTonya Johnson, Amy Herrig and the ailing Korie Hlede. In one play, with a little more than seven minutes remaining, Hlede knocked a ball away, Natalie Williams picked it up and threw it to an already sprinting Hlede who made a beautiful reverse layup to give Utah an eight point lead.

Second half: The Starzz defense got even tougher in the second half, as only one Sacramento player scored in double digits. Another great defensive play swung the momentum Utah's way just as the game began to get close again. With 8:42 left in the game, Marie Ferdinand blocked a 3-point shot by Kedra Holland-Corn, and Utah scored on the other end.

Records: Starzz 8-10; Monarchs 12-8

Next up: Starzz play at Indiana, 6 p.m. Monday in Conseco Fieldhouse.

Quotable: "I don't think anything has changed (since the coaching change). I don't know what it is. We're leaving it out on the floor every night." — Marie Ferdinand, Utah guard
