PROVO — Here's a friendly tip for Provo baseball fans: Plan to arrive on time to Angel games.

If you don't, you might miss plenty of action.

For the second straight night, Provo wasted no time jumping all over the Idaho Falls Padres.

After scoring six runs in the first inning Wednesday, the Angels plated five runs in the first frame on Thursday en route to an 8-2 triumph over the Padres before a crowd of 1,360 at Larry H. Miller Field.

Designated hitter Josh Gray helped Provo's quick start by cracking a three-run home run — his second roundtripper of the season. The Angels cruised from there.

Dallas McPherson moved from his usual position, third base, to first base and went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Not that McPherson's fine performance at the plate was anything new for him. He came into the game batting at a .391 clip — second-best in the Pioneer League.

Starting pitcher Tony Arthur (6-0) turned in another superb outing, giving up three hits and one earned run and striking out seven in six innings of work.

With the win, the Angels improved to 26-7. The Padres tumbled to 12-20. The two teams continue their five-game series tonight at 7.
