GOSHEN, Utah County — Utah County sheriff's deputies arrested a 16-year-old boy Thursday night after he reportedly did $60,000 damage to Goshen Elementary School.

Responding to a call on a missing 5-year-old boy, deputies conducted a door-to-door search for the boy and learned that the 5-year-old was believed to be with a 16-year-old boy.

During the search, sheriff's deputies and K-9 units searching around Goshen Elementary discovered damage to the school and saw evidence that the vandal might still be in the school.

Deputies entered the school and found the 16-year-old boy with the missing 5-year-old. The older boy was in the process of smashing windows and had allegedly destroyed computers and pushed two pianos off the stage in the school's auditorium.

Utah County's Sheriff's Office is still investigating why the older boy had the younger boy in tow and what possible motives the older boy had for allegedly vandalizing the elementary school.

The 16-year-old was arrested for felony criminal mischief, burglary and attempted arson.
