Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend age 83, peacefully passed away with his wife by his side July 18, 2001 after a courageous battle with a long illness.

Born April 19, 1918 in Anderson, South Carolina to William Waanaa and Emma Josephine Hale. Bill served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Bill was a diesel electric engineer and worked 30 years in Alaska on the early warning radar systems before retiring. Bill was a member of Holladay Baptist Church where he loved to work and was an avid "do-it-yourself" craftsman and devoted much of his retirement years to his family and friends.

Survivors include his loving wife Gussie of 59 years, Daughter Susan and Husband Gary Zeluff; Son Scott and wife Debbie Hale, three Grandchildren: Courtney, Cameron and Chad; Sister Selma (Hale) Mauldin, Brother Rev. Wade H. Hale; and beloved cat "Isabella".

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Anna Beck, Dr. Elizabeth Atkin Thor, Dr. Kevin McCusker, Dr. Tom Calame, Dr. Crayton Walker, Dr. Peter Hasby, Dr. David Bull, Dr. Doug Slawson and the loving and caring staff from Care Source Hospice.

Funeral Services will be Saturday July 21, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S Highland Dr. where friends may call 12:45-1:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
