There might have been no joy in Mudville, but there was plenty of it at Memorial Stadium as James Earl Jones read "Casey at the Bat" to Indiana students.

In the booming voice that gave life to Darth Vader in "Star Wars" and King Mufasa in "The Lion King," Jones wowed the crowd at Wednesday's Fort Wayne Wizards baseball game.

"I loved it," said 10-year-old Heidi Orr. "Whenever something exciting happened in the book, his voice rose real high."

The older audience members also were impressed, including several members of the Class A Wizards, who paused their pregame warmups to hear Jones, who also starred in "Field of Dreams."
