PROVO — Nature's Sunshine Products Inc. on Monday reported net income of $4.7 million, or 28 cents per share, for the quarter ended June 30. That compares with net income of $4.9 million, or 29 cents per share, for the same period a year ago.
The earnings were short by 1 cent from the consensus expectation from Wall Street.
The maker and marketer of encapsulated herbs and vitamins said sales in the quarter totaled $81.8 million, up from $79.7 million in the prior-year period.
For the first six months of the year, the company had net income of $8.7 million, or 53 cents per share, down from $9.4 million, or 53 cents per share, a year ago. Sales totaled $163.5 million, up from $161.1 million for the first six months of 2000.
The company's stock price early Monday was $12.90, up 6 cents from Friday's close. In the past year, the price has ranged from $5.69 to $13.
