A man was stabbed to death during a fight outside a West Salt Lake bar early just after 1 a.m. Wednesday.
Salt Lake police arrested a 31-year-old man for investigation of the stabbing at a nearby motel following the incident, which left 38-year-old Todd Tafoya dead outside the Crow Bar, 1871 W. North Temple.
Police did not say where or how many times Tafoya was stabbed.
Tafoya and his cousin were outside the bar when they began arguing with the 31-year-old man and his father over some comments the father and son made to a female employee of the bar.
A fight ensued during which Tafoya was stabbed with a knife, police said. His cousin was not injured.
Witnesses saw the father and son walk across the street to the Days Inn hotel. Police picked both men up at the motel. They were taken to a local hospital and treated for injuries sustained in the fight. Police did not say the extent of their injuries.
