Lena Elizabeth Miner Anderson Peterson, our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, friend and teacher, passed from this life on July 23, 2001 in Bountiful at the age of 90.

She was born on September 23, 1910 in Fairview, Utah to George D. and Lillie E. Miner. She married Leland John Anderson. Later divorced; then married Arch M. Peterson on August 28, 1946.

Lena was a wonderful mother and teacher who devoted her life to her family, church and students. She began teaching school at age 19 in Cache County. Later, while still raising her four youngest children, she finished her teaching degree at the U of U and taught school at Plymouth Elementary for ten years. She loved to travel and made new friends wherever she went. Lena was an inspiration to everyone she knew because of her loving, positive attitude, faith and boundless energy. Up to age 85 she was grinding wheat and baking bread for her family, friends and neighbors and bowled on three different leagues.

She is loved and will be missed dearly by her surviving sister, Myrle Shields (Murray); brother, Darwin Miner (Highland); sons, Steven John Anderson (Sparks, NV) and Ronald Melvin Peterson (Bountiful); daughters, Darlene Thayne (Bountiful); Jan Tindall (Riverton) and Kathi Easton Heywood (Taylorsville) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family expresses thanks to the caregivers at Life Care of Bountiful. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 28, 12 noon at Winder 8th Ward, 1361 East 4000 South.
