ST. GEORGE, UT- Sylvia Robinson Ball McDonald, 92, of St. George, Utah died July 23, 2001, at the Dixie Regional Medical Center.
Sylvia was born August 6, 1908, in Mesa, Arizona, to Sarah Roe Cunningham and Jefferson Robin-son. Sylvia joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on February 1, 1942, which she often said she considered her *real* birth date. She married Stevenson McDonald on June 15, 1949. Steve and Sylvia served a building mission to Great Britain, where Steve supervised construction of the first LDS Chapel in Scotland. They were active members of the Lions Club and the Sons of the Utah Pioneers organizations. Genealogy and temple work were a wonderful part of their life. Shortly after Steve retired, he and Sylvia moved to St. George where they spent many hours performing work in the temple there as well. Sylvia's testimony of the gospel and of the Savior was evident in her life and in the quality of her compassionate service. Her optimism and sense of humor blessed the lives of those around her. Her calm acceptance of circumstances, particularly following Steve's death in 1994, were an inspiration to many. As a family we express appreciation for the loving care that Sylvia experienced as a resident of The Meadows.
She is survived by children, Elizabeth (Wayne) Lambourne, Emily (Leland) Burningham, Louise (Glen) Latham, Ross (Marjeanne) McDonald, Steve (Ann) McDonald, Howard McDonald, Irene (Roy) Marlow, Edward (Carolyn) McDonald, Priscilla (Vern) Cowan, and by many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
As requested by Sylvia, graveside services will be held at noon on Saturday, July 28th at the Holladay Memorial Cemetery, 4900 Memory Lane (1900 East) under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary (435) 673-4221.
