An altercation July 20 that left one man dead has resulted in a charge of criminal homicide against Greg Velasquez, 24, Salt Lake City.
Velasquez was charged in 3rd District Court Friday in the death of Robert F. Young, 57. According to a court document, Velasquez called his mother to say he had done something "really bad." When police responded to an apartment at 432 E. Chapman Ave. (225 South), the victim was found lying on the floor. An autopsy showed Young had suffered blunt trauma injuries to the head and shoulder from being kicked multiple times.
Velasquez told an investigator the motive for the alleged beating was that he was mad at Young, although the source of anger was not stated in a court record.
