Elden Eugene White, 85, passed away July 25, 2001 in Salt Lake City.

Born October 29, 1915 to Thomas Mark and Emily Susan White in Salt Lake City, Utah. He married Donna Cheney. They were later divorced.

Gene graduated from South High in 1935 and was on the Varsity football team. He was stationed in Osaka, Japan during World War II.

Gene survived a cardiac arrest in 1978. He enjoyed all sports especially playing golf and bowling. Gene and his dog, Taffy, walked six miles a day until his health returned so he could play golf for the next 15 years in which time he finally made a hole in one.

He is survived by his children Richard E. White (Cynthia), and Charlene (Leonard) Nelson; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and sister Ada Beckman. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ray, Matthew, Ernest, Stewart, Lester; sisters Millie, Annie and Viola.

He had a long lasting friendship with Grace and her children, Jim and Sandra.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday July 28, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary 3401 S Highland Dr. A viewing will be held Friday July 27 from 6-8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary and one hour prior to services. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial park.
