Utah 68, Lynx 60

Game 23: Saturday night at the Delta Center

Utah 27 31 10 — 68

Lynx 33 25 2 — 60

First Half: Utah had another shaky start, and the Lynx led by as many as nine points after going almost the first three minutes without a basket. But solid defense helped the Starzz stay close. They held the league's leading scorer to just two field goals, although she shot six free throws. Smith was the only player on either team to score in double figures in the first half. Center Margo Dydek came out of the game after being called for a flagrant foul on Svetlana Abrosimova, who made her free throws. Then Smith drained a three-pointer for a nine-point lead with three minutes left in the half.

Second Half: Utah found its offensive rhythm and shot well from the free-throw line. The Starzz didn't let up defensively, which was the key to the game. Adrienne Goodson, Natalie Williams and Marie Ferdinand all scored in double digits while holding all of the Lynx, except Smith, to single digits.

Records: Utah 12-11; Minnesota 7-16

Next up: The Starzz travel to Portland to take on the Fire Monday at 6 p.m.
