Lilian Stokes Fox died July 23rd, 2001 in Eugene, OR, of causes incident to age.

She was born Lilian Edna Stokes in East Millcreek, Utah on Novem-ber 26, 1911. She was the second of four children born to Jeremiah Stokes and Eugenia Neff.

After gradu-ating from Granite High School and the University of Utah with a Bachelor's Degree in Education, she married George Wallace Fox in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' (LDS) Salt Lake Temple in 1938. He died in 1968. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

An elementary school teacher, Mrs. Fox was a member of National, Utah and Granite Education Associations and taught for 29 years in the Salt Lake City and Granite School Districts. In 1993 she was recognized by the Univ. of Utah as Educator Of The Year. A devout member of the LDS faith, Mrs. Fox had a strong musical background and sang with the Mormon Tabernacle choir in the 1930's and held numerous church positions.

She is survived by her sister, Claudia S. Thurman, Salt Lake City, UT; daughter, Anndria L. Gross, Eugene, OR; and son, John Paul Fox, Taylorsville, UT. Mrs. Fox is also survived by ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard N. Stokes, a sister, Eugenia Stokes Broadbent, and two infant sons, George Wallace Fox II., and Rodger Wallace Fox.

A private family graveside service will be held in August. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the LDS Missionary Fund or the Primary Children's Medical Center Foundation.
