- Betty Moore Steele, age 77, passed away Friday July 27, 2001 in Layton.

She was born Feb 14, 1924 in Spanish Fork, UT a daughter of John Leo and Jennie Margaret (Betts) Moore. She married Kenneth Jesse Steele, Dec 15, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He pas-sed away July 26, 1981.

She was born and raised in Spanish Fork. Her older childhood years were in Layton. Betty's married years were in the Salt Lake area and Farmington. Her widowed years were in Layton. She graduated from Spanish Fork High, attended Weber State University and University of Utah.

Betty was Relief Society president twice, Primary chorister for 10 years, Primary president, served a Southern California, Kentucky-Louisville, and Temple Square Missions. She did missionary service at the Church Office Building. She was a stake missionary and worked at Cherry Hill Camp Ground and volunteered at Community Schools. She enjoyed gardening, loved music, fishing, hunting, and reading. She loved to go riding on her motorcycle; loved nature and sewing. She built her own homes with her husband and children.

She is survived by three sons, Jesse Lynn (Dawn) Steele, Layton, Daryl John Steele, Deweyville, UT, Scott Ellis (Janet) Steele, Kaysville; one daughter, Debra Margaret Steele (Stan) Terry, Powder Springs, GA; 20 grandchildren; and three brothers, Glen Moore, Lee Moore, John Jennings Moore.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tues. July 31, 2001, Country View LDS Ward chapel, 625 S. 750 E, Layton. Family and friends may call Mon. 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N.
