Ronald Burt Mills, one of the most admirable adventurers of our time; finished his last great adventure on earth Saturday, June 30th, 2001, he is now starting his next great adventure with his son, Darren Mills, who preceded him in death. Some of his life adventures included being married to his loving wife, Argene Mills, for 40 years. Among his accomplishments he retired after 30 years of courageous service with the Salt Lake City Fire Department. Ron retired as Command Sergeant Major of the Utah National Guard after 32 years of gallant service. Building the cabin of his dreams with some of his closest friends leaving an everlasting legacy for generations to come. Ron had a zest for life and his travels took him all over the world. Some of his favorite places were close to home in Utah. As a father, he shared his passion of adventure with his children, taking them to go play on the lakes, in the mountains, and on the deserts. We always thought of Dad as an adventurer, hero, counselor and friend. Ron married his sweetheart for life, was a proud father, a big brother, loving grandfather and a phenomenal friend to all who knew him. The many friends he has made over his life will miss him.
Ron is survived by his wife, Argene; children, David Burt Mills (Wendy, Kasey, Davis Ronald Burt, Kelsey), Darren's children (Adam USN, Austin, Seth, and their mother, Lori) and Deborah Mills (Franklin Bell III, Tiffany, Chase, Charlie); sisters, Marsha (Rick Brown), Judy Kingsbury; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. His parents, Burt and Dorothy preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held today, July 3rd at Metcalf Mortuary, 300 W. St. George Blvd, St. George, Utah at 4 p.m.
