OREM — Utah's National Guard 23rd Army Band, affectionately called the "Governor's Own," will spread its message of patriotism at a free concert Tuesday, Aug. 7, at 8 p.m. at the SCERA Schell Outdoor Theatre. Tickets are free, but must be picked up at the SCERA Center, 745 S. State, weekdays between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The ensemble, founded in 1948 and currently under the direction of Jay "Mike" Cottam, dons the official Army dress blue uniform for dozens of concerts, school music clinics, parades and military support missions throughout the state.
