FARMINGTON — Davis County Sheriff Bud E. Cox is urging extra caution for those heading to the mountains, in light of the fact that four people have already died in accidents this year in the canyons above Davis County.
In addition to the deaths, each of which resulted from falls off of steep trails, four other incidents required search and rescue personnel.
Cox advised anyone planning to go to the mountains to take a few basic precautions. He said hikers and others should make an itinerary and let someone know where they plan to go and when they plan to return. He also urged hikers to use extra caution on steep terrain.
