The U.S. Attorney's Office announced Monday that it had recovered money for medical and electronic equipment stolen from the Bureau of Land Management during last year's fire season.
Dave Reynolds, a temporary BLM employee on assignment from Maine, agreed — as part of a consent judgment with federal prosecutors — to reimburse the federal government $1,776.
A news release from spokeswoman Melodie Rydalch said Reynolds admitted to illegally removing medical supplies and a radio while fighting fires in Utah, Colorado and South Dakota last summer. He returned roughly $1,100 worth of property in October, and his latest financial reimbursement will cover the rest.
