ST. GEORGE (AP) — The possibility of a joint project to build gas-fired turbines at Mesquite, Nev., is being explored, the Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems said.

Jackie Makin, UAMPS customer services administrator, said the size and number of the participants in the project are still being considered.

Wayne McArthur, St. George water and power director, said the proposed plant would be 200 to 400 megawatts.

McArthur estimated the project would take three years to complete.
