Bertha Helen Larson Petersen, age 79, passed away July 1, 2001 at her home in West Valley City, Utah.
Born Oct. 19, 1921 in Cleveland, Utah, daughter of Edward and Alice Shoemaker Larson. Married Clay I. Petersen, Sr. April 27, 1942 in the Manti LDS Temple. She was a school teacher in Emery District and Granite District for 40 years. Active member of the LDS Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years, stake dance director, stake Young Women's presidency, temple worker at the Jordan River Temple for 10 years and director of the stake Name Extraction Program.
Survived by husband, Clay; children, Clay I. (Charllot) Petersen, Jr.; Sue (William C.) Guest, Ann (Scott) Stewart; foster daughter, Ruth Arlene (Jerry) Gordon; 16 grandchildren; 11great-grandchildren; brother, Arvid D. Larson. Preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Special thanks to Dr. Legant and staff, the oncology staff, and Cottonwood Hospital, along with Hospice Staff, for their expert and devoted care during Bertha's illness.
Funeral services will be Thur., 10 a.m. at the Taylorsville North Central Stake, 3120 W. 4700 So. Friends may call Wed., 5-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 So. Redwood Rd and Thurs. at the church, 9-9:45 a.m.
Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
