Betsy "Betty" Sampson Johnson died July 2, 2001 in Delta.

Born September 13, 1913 to Benjamin F. and Mary Francetta Cook Sampson in Delta, in a log cabin, now restored and on display at Great Basin Museum in Delta. Graduated Delta High School and attended Snow College.

Married John Lester Johnson, February 3, 1937, Manti Temple. Raised family in Sutherland. Served in LDS Church as teacher, Relief Society president, missionary - Tulsa Oklahoma Mission, at Manti Temple.

Catering business, well known for beautiful wedding cakes.

Now with husband, daughter Carma, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mother of Merrill (Carol), Holden; Annalee (Gary) Church, Delta; Paul (Marilyn), Salt Lake City; Karla (Jim) Corry, Santaquin; Betsy (Kim) Bauer, Orem; Ray (Mary Anne), Sutherland. 40 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; brother and sisters: Fontella Bishop Crafts, Mable Chapman, Merlin Sampson, Lou Etta Mortensen. Deceased brothers and sisters: Melba June, Charles Sampson, Faires Miner, Roe Ann Gooch, Easton Sampson.

Funeral services Saturday June 7, 2001, 11 a.m., Delta 3rd-4th Ward Church, 197 S. 300 W. Friends call Friday July 6, 2001, 7-8 p.m. at Nickle Mortuary, 190 S. Center, Delta, and Saturday 9:30-10:40 a.m. at the church. Burial in Sutherland Cemetery.
