James E. Burns passed away at his home in Coalville on July 3, 2001.

He was born in Kansas City, Missouri on Oct. 7, 1919 the son of James H. and Louise Kiefer Burns. He married Gwendolyn Shields on June 6, 1944; later divorced. Jim married Carma Wright on Sept. 9, 1972. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was employed by Continental Bank in Salt Lake City and was employed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, which required temporary assignment throughout the U. S. and Puerto Rico. He retired in November 1984. Jim served as Coalville City Mayor for one term and served as a Coalville Council Member.

Jim is survived by his wife, Carma; son, James (Mary Jo) Burns, Salt Lake; daughter, Margaret (Dan) Gillett, South Jordan; son, Joe (Lisa) Ostmeier, Magna; daughter, Coni (Mike) Robinson, Hoytsville; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; four step grandsons; sister, Rosalie (Kenneth) Swanson, Webster Grove, Missouri.

Funeral services Saturday, July 7, 2001, at 12 Noon at the Coalville LDS Stake Center, Coalville, Utah. Friends may call at the Stake Center on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. Interment, Coalville City Cemetery.
