Beloved mother, "Grammy," great-grandmother and friend. Maxine Pulham Sutton Beard passed away peacefully on July 4, 2001 of causes incident to age. She leaves behind a legacy of love and service to her immediate family, her ward family, her "ladies," and her Father-in-Heaven.
She was born June 24, 1912 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Barrett Frederick and Edna Ella Pyne Pulham. On the celebration of her 89th birthday she was so excited to have her family surround her on the patio of her home where she has entertained family and friends for over half a century.
Maxine graduated from LDS High School in 1929 and the University of Utah College of Education in 1933. She married W. Ross Sutton, a prominent businessman and co-manager of the Newhouse Hotel, August 17, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple. They shared eleven glorious years prior to his untimely death in 1949.
After 40 years of widowhood she married G. Victor Beard in 1990. He passed away in 1996.
She was devoted to her family, her Church, and her many friends. She loved being a grandmother. She served her Church in Young Women, Sunday School, and as president of the Relief Society of the Yalecrest II Ward.
She was preceded in death by her brother Barrett Frederick Pulham, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Bonnie Jean Miner (Alan E.), and son William Barrett Sutton (Dawn M.) of Salt Lake City; nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Monday, July 9, at 12 noon at the Yalecrest Ward, 1035 South 1800 East. Friends may call Sunday, July 8, from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple and at the church Monday one hour prior to the service. Interment, Salt Lake Mausoleum.
