OGDEN (AP) — Former Davis County jailer Michael Carnahan has pleaded guilty to sexual battery in a sexual assault on a prisoner.
In exchange for the guilty plea, prosecutors reduced the charge from first-degree felony forcible sodomy to class A misdemeanor sexual battery.
Sentencing is set for Aug. 16 before 2nd District Judge Michael Lyon.
A prisoner accused Carnahan of forcing her to perform a sex act upon him in an empty medical supply room in the Davis County Jail in September 1998.
Carnahan was fired in December 1998 after three female inmates said Carnahan had coerced a sex act.
The Davis County Attorney's Office turned the case over to Weber County to avoid any conflict of interest.
Weber prosecutors filed on only one case, saying there were problems contesting defense claims that the acts were consensual.
