The community lost a beautiful person in the early morning of August 22, 2001. Her death was quiet and peaceful in the home where she spent many happy years.

Charlotte B. Nielson Smith was born Nov. 27, 1907, in Draper, Utah, the seventh child of Anthon James Nielson and Esther Elizabeth Steele Nielson. On Aug. 18, 1928, she married Samuel Lamont Smith, who died Sept. 24, 1968. The past 33 years have been very lonely for our mother, but her beautiful happy spirit enabled her to carry on.

She is survived by four children, Dorothy Brinsa, Salt Lake City; Lynn and Sherry Smith, Portland, OR; Harold and Gladys Gingrich, Woodland Hills, CA; Wallace and Linda Smith, Providence, UT; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Our precious wonderful mother, we will love you and miss you forever. You have taught us through your wisdom, you have led us by example, you have lifted us with kindness, and you have bonded us with love. You will live on because you are woven into the fabric of our lives. Your influence will pass on to our children and they will pass it on to theirs. We are immensely proud of you and eternally grateful to have shared your life.

The shadows lengthen, the busy world is hushed, the fever of life is over and your work is done. Well done. Well done indeed!
