NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — With approval by the state Legislature, public establishments statewide can begin selling alcoholic beverages at 10 a.m. on Sundays instead of noon, the traditional time when church services conclude.
The change is considered crucial for Adelphia Coliseum, where gates open at 10 a.m. for games of professional football's Tennessee Titans.
Municipalities have the right to establish a noon serving time, and Knoxville and two other towns have done so. In Nashville, a spokesman said Mayor Bill Purcell plans to let the Metro Council decide.

"I prefer noontime because of religious reasons," said councilman Phil Ponder, but councilman David Briley said 10 a.m. would help the convention industry.
