BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Former IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch left a hospital Friday after being treated for more than a week for high blood pressure.

The 81-year-old Samaranch was released from the Clinica Quiron after doctors reported he was in good health, the hospital said in a statement.

"The patient can resume his normal activity and will continue with periodic medical checkups," the statement said.

Samaranch was in a hospital for 11 days in Lausanne, Switzerland, last month after returning from the Olympic meetings in Moscow, where Jacques Rogge was elected as his successor.

Samaranch was reported to be suffering from "extreme fatigue."
