YAKIMA, Wash. — Ryan Flynn's two-out double helped Brooklawn, N.J., rally for a 9-6 victory Friday over Midwest City, Okla., in first-round pool-play action at the American Legion World Series.
Brooklawn trailed 6-2 with two outs in the eighth before starting its rally. A walk and two singles loaded the bases, then Mike Falasca drove in the first run with a single. A hit batsman brought in another run before Flynn drove a 3-2 pitch into the left-center gap. Two batters later, Mike Rucci also doubled into the left-center gap, scoring two more runs.
Nate Schill and Bill Boyer led Brooklawn's 14-hit attack with 3-for-4 performances, while Rucci, Falasca and Andrew Noe each added two hits.
Brooklawn improved to 52-4.
Josh Odell, David Lucas and Casey Rowlett each had two hits for Midwest City (64-14). Odell hit a two-run home run to left field in the first.
