PHILADELPHIA — Pat Burrell homered and drove in three runs as the Philadelphia Phillies overcame Luis Gonzalez's 47th homer and beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-5 Friday night.
Reggie Sanders had two homers for the Diamondbacks, who lead the NL West by 1 1/2 games.
Omar Daal allowed one run in five innings, improving to 12-4 after going 4-19 last season.
Burrell, benched the previous two games, gave the Phillies a 1-0 lead in the first with an RBI double. His two-run homer in the fourth made it 6-1.
Jose Mesa worked a perfect ninth for his 33rd save in 35 chances. Brian Anderson (3-9) took the loss.
CARDINALS 10, CUBS 8: Jim Edmonds and Craig Paquette each drove in three runs as the Cardinals rallied past the Cubs in Chicago.
Sammy Sosa drove in two runs, one on a sacrifice fly that was just inches from being a homer. Sosa remains one home run shy of joining Babe Ruth and Mark McGwire as the only players in history with four 50-homer seasons.
ASTROS 5, PIRATES 1: Roy Oswalt beat the Pirates for the second time in six days by pitching six-hit ball over eight-plus innings in Pittsburgh, helping Houston increase its NL Central lead.
Houston raised its division lead to four games as the Chicago Cubs lost 10-8 to St. Louis to drop into a second-place tie with the Cardinals.
DODGERS 4, BRAVES 1: Marquis Grissom hit a three-run homer, Shawn Green added a solo shot and Chan Ho Park won for the first time in almost a month as Los Angeles won in Atlanta.
Grissom's 20th home run in the fourth inning gave Los Angeles a 4-0 lead against Tom Glavine (11-7), helping the Dodgers to their second straight win but only fifth in their last 14 games.
EXPOS 6, REDS 4: Tim Raines, making his first start since May 3, scored the go-ahead run on Orlando Cabrera's single in the seventh inning and the Expos beat the Reds in Montreal.
Raines, who turns 42 next month, had been out of the lineup since injuring his left shoulder early this season. He was activated from the disabled list Wednesday.
Raines went 2-for-3 with a walk.
METS 4, GIANTS 3: Bruce Chen pitched three-hit ball over seven innings as the host Mets shut down Barry Bonds and the Giants.
Edgardo Alfonzo and Todd Zeile hit second-inning homers off Kirk Rueter (12-9) and Jay Payton hit a solo homer in the seventh off Brian Boehringer.
A night after hitting his major league-leading 55th homer, Bonds was 1-for-3 with a single and walk. He needs 16 homers in San Francisco's final 34 games to break the record Mark McGwire set three years ago.
MARLINS 6, PADRES 3: Preston Wilson hit a two-run homer and Kevin Millar drove in three runs as the Marlins defeated the Padres in Miami.
