Garth P Monson, 73, president of the Manti Utah Temple from 1991-1994, died Aug. 15, 2001, in Ephraim, Utah. Brother Monson taught in seminary/institute for 36 years, ending his career as institute director at the University of Hawaii after 25 years at Snow College. He also served in the U.S. Air Force and was chaplain in the Utah/Arizona National Guard. He served in the Boy Scouts and received the Silver Beaver Award.

Edward A. Nadle, 89, president of the Northern States Mission from 1963-1966, died Aug. 17, 2001, in St. George, Utah. He also served as bishop of the Hollywood and University of Southern California wards in Los Angeles, Calif., for a total of 19 years.
