Park City artist Marianne Cone will take over as interim director of the Kimball Art Center, Park City's non-profit community art center.
Sarah Behrens, Kimball Art Center's current president and CEO, announced that she will be leaving the center to pursue other opportunities and to focus on her health. Behrens suffers from multiple sclerosis, a chronic disease of the central nervous system.
Behrens has been with the organization, off and on, since 1981 when she served on the administrative staff of the Park City Art Festival. She returned full time in 1996 as the center's development officer. In the fall of 1998 she was appointed president and CEO.
Cone, a member of the center's board of trustees, has been involved with the organization since its inception in 1976.
"The few months I spend as interim director will give the board time to choose the appropriate and best person for the job," said Cone.
A local artist, Cone was recently commissioned to create the non-rectilinear artwork featured in the newly-minted Park City Transit Center.
She is married to fellow artist and Park City School Board member, David Chaplin.
