CROWELL, Texas (AP) — Investigators were at work preserving evidence Saturday at the site where two Air Force training planes crashed, killing one Italian pilot and injuring two others.

Two T-38A Talons from Sheppard Air Force Base collided Friday during a NATO training session and crashed to the ground about 300 yards apart. The pilots are Italian members of the Euro NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training program.

An interim team from the Safety Investigation Board was at the spot Saturday and the board's full investigative team was expected by Monday, said Master Sgt. Jeff Szczechowski, a spokesman at Sheppard.
