WINCHESTER, Ark. (AP) — The second of two inmates who escaped from a state prison was captured Saturday while crawling through a cotton field, prison officials said.

Bobby Green, 51, had a handgun but did not attempt to use it, prison spokeswoman Dina Tyler said.

Green was returned to the prison in Varner, about 90 miles southeast of Little Rock, Tyler said. The field is about 20 miles from the prison.

Green and Joseph D. Davis, 39, jumped a guard Thursday, stole the guard's truck and kidnapped an off-duty corrections officer and his daughter, officials said. The officer and daughter were released unharmed and the guard was not seriously hurt.

Davis was captured the day of the escape and apparently committed suicide in his cell Friday.
