PAGE, Ariz. — Searchers have found the body of an Omaha, Neb., man who disappeared last week while swimming in Lake Powell.

The body of Nicosio W. Caguioa, 48, was recovered Friday evening in water just over 100 feet deep.

Searchers used side-scanning sonar provided by the National Park Service Submerged Resource Center in Santa Fe, N.M., to search about 200 acres of water up to 175 feet deep, according to the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. The search area was determined by the coordinates on a global positioning system inside Caguioa's houseboat.

After several minutes of swimming off the front of a houseboat on Aug. 20, witnesses said Caguioa suddenly slipped under the water. Another person on the houseboat jumped in to help Caguioa, but he had already disappeared.

About 20 people were on the houseboat when the accident occurred, spokesman Glenn Gossard said.
