PRICE-<! > Our beautiful mother, Catherine Grow Murdock, age 88, passed away on August 24, 2001 due to complications fol-lowing a fall. She joins her husband, Dean Emer Murdock, whom she sorely missed since his passing on January 9, 2000.
Catherine was born in Salt Lake on September 17, 1912 to Harlow and Ethel Cahoon Grow. She attended Jordan High School and the University of Utah. She married Dean Emer Murdock in Paris, Idaho on July 25, 1942 and together moved to Price, Utah in 1943 to start a family business. She was one of the first female licensed pilots in Utah and enjoyed a short and exciting career as a wing walker. Catherine had a lifelong commitment to the Girl Scouts of America, holding several prominent positions in that organization. She loved to dance, and had compassion for all living things. She was very proud of her stunning flower garden, especially her peony tree. Her compassion for animals was well known and she cared for many cats and dogs throughout her life. We are grateful that mom kept her quick wit and sharp sense of humor until the very end. Her passing will leave an emptiness in all our hearts, and she will be greatly missed by her children and especially her grandson, Keith Dean Wiseman, with whom she shared a special bond.
Catherine is survived by her daughter, Cathie (Doran) O'Halloran, son, Hal Murdock, grandchildren, Keith and Kylie, nephews, Craig Grow and Bruce Grow, Steven (Marion) Lennberg, niece, Tarza Peterson, and her sister-in-law, Mildred Murdock Lennberg. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Harlow B. Grow and son-in-law, Crane Wiseman.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Doctor Morris who improved the quality of mom's life, and to the staff at the Heirloom Inn. Our special thanks to Shauna O'Brien whose compassion and love for mom helped our perennial rose bloom once again, making her last several months meaningful and enjoyable.
Funeral service, Tuesday, August 28, 2001 2 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home in Price. Family will be at Mitchell's Tuesday one hour prior to services. Interment: Price City Cemetery.
