John J. Finley passed away August 25, 2001 at the age of 68.

Born January 28, 1933 in Troy, New York. Married Dawn Atkinson on Sept. 8, 1956 in Elko, Nevada. She preceded him in death July 18, 1991. John served in the Korean War and was wounded in battle. He received a Purple Heart and a Medal of Valor.

He had a contagious smile and great big heart! Others always came before him. A father to seven children, 22 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, who will miss him greatly.

Survived by five sons, John J. (Tammy), Robert L. (Karen), Larry D., Jeffrey (Dixie), Troy (Michelle), and two daughters, Julie Lloyd (Jim), and Pam Plumby (Gary), many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother Phil (Bev), and his sister Mary Durrick.

His mother and wife preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2001 at 11 a.m. at the Edison Ward Chapel, 700 S. 1401 W., Salt Lake City. Friends and family may call at the Deseret Mortuary, 36 E. 700 So. Salt Lake City, Tuesday, August 28, 2001, evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the ward. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery.
