Regarding the Deseret News' Sunday, Aug. 19, Viewpoint cover piece titled "What kind of choice is this?" I would have to disagree with what reporter Christina McCarroll wrote regarding young girls and their retail clothing options.

I believe it is the parents' responsibility to tell their children what to wear, and they have to draw the line somewhere.

As a songwriter/singer I am outraged that parents and the news reporters are blaming the way their children dress on the "pop stars" who themselves are ages 18 to 25.

Most artists don't even know they are targeting such a young age group. Therefore, you can't tell an adult, let alone a "rock star," they must dress modestly for 5-year-olds.
