Ellen Chidester Holloway, 83, of Salem, passed away Monday, August 6, 2001.

She was born Jan. 31, 1918 in Richfield, UT to David LeRoy and Ellen Sophia (Jensen) Chid-ester. She married Leon Melvin Holloway in Richfield, UT on April 28, 1937. He preceded her in death July 28, 1972.

Ellen loved her family, the mountains and the ocean. Next to those Ellen loved selling Avon and visiting with her customers whom she considered to be her friends. She received many high awards and honors in her 30 years of selling. She loved lunch with the "girls" from First Security. Her determination, strong will and sense of humor helped her make the best of things as she cared for her younger brother and sisters when her mother passed away at an early age. If we listen closely we can hear her laughter throughout our lives.

She is survived by her children: Vonda Lee (Baker Valdez) Ogden, Salem, UT; Larry (Ann) Holloway, Sandy, UT; John V. Holloway, Draper, UT; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Evan Chidester and a sister, Barbara Michaelson. She was preceded in death by her three sisters, Mary, Dona and Norma.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, 10 a.m. in the Salem 12th Ward LDS Chapel, 695 So. 300 W., Salem, UT with a viewing one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in the Richfield City Cemetery under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary.
