COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — A man forced his way into the workplace of a psychiatric nurse on Sunday and fatally shot her before committing suicide, police said.
The alleged gunman followed Kathleen Seely, 56, into the North Idaho Behavioral Health facility for juveniles at about 2:20 p.m., Coeur d'Alene Police Sgt. Bob Pharris said.
Officers were called to the scene by some of Seely's co-workers, who said they had unsuccessfully tried to talk the man into yielding his handgun.
Pharris said Seely had filed stalking complaints against the suspect last year. Police evacuated 11 staff members and 34 young patients from the building. No staff or patients were reported injured.
