Edward Keith Wiscombe, age 80, Mapleton, died Sunday Sept 9, 2001 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 8, 1921 in Springville to Leonard E. and Louise Evans Wis-combe. He married Dorothy Anderson March 17, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He was raised in Springville, later moving to Provo and Salt Lake City. He received a Bachelors Degree from the University of Utah in Electrical Engineering. He received training in the Naval R.O.T.C., and was commissioned as an Ensign. He served during World War II. He taught Diesel Engineering at Cornell University for the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Bureau of Reclamation in 1977. He served as Mayor of Mapleton, 1979-1983. He was a member of the LDS church and served as a High Councilman, Elders Quorum President, and several other church positions. He was an avid horseman and gardener.

He is survived by his wife, Mapleton; two sons and two daughters, Edward M (Shirlene) Wiscombe, Maple-ton, Sharon Ann (Neil) Peay, American Fork, Shauna (Bill) Staheli, North Ogden, Brent K. (Robin) Wiscombe, Orem; 21 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Nancy (Lynn) Oldham, Provo.

Services will be Wed. Sept 12, 11 a.m. in the Mapleton Red Church, 1000 W. 1200 N. Friends may call Tues. 6-8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S, Springville, or Wed. at the church, one hour prior. Burial, Evergreen Cemetery.
