LOGAN — In the wake of Tuesday's national tragedies, Utah State University's athletic teams will not compete in any event through Friday, USU President Dr. Kermit L. Hall announced Tuesday.
The status of Saturday's football game at Fresno State won't be determined until sometime Wednesday.
USU's volleyball team has had its matches at UC Irvine and Long Beach State on Thursday and Friday, respectively, postponed. No makeup dates have been set.
Decisions on USU's other games and events — affecting the women's soccer, men's golf, men's and women's cross country teams — should be made by Wednesday evening after input from conference commissioners and athletic directors meetings.
"Members of every conference and leaders of every conference have been in communication today, and we will be again on Wednesday," USU athletic director Rance Pugmire said Tuesday. "We certainly want to do what is in the best interest of our student-athletes, the victims and their families, and our country."
According to director of media relations Mike Strauss, the football team has made some contingency plans to bus to Reno on Thursday and then proceed to Fresno on Friday, if airlines aren't in operation and if the game isn't postponed.
